If you are looking for an attorney to assist you in any legal proceeding involving a change in the family dynamic such as a divorce, separation, or custody issue, or you are in a long-term domestic partnership arrangement or co-habiting with your significant other and need assistance in learning your legal rights and obligations, it is imperative that you select an attorney with the experience and skill to best represent your interests.

For the past fifteen (15) years I have concentrated my practice in family and matrimonial law. In the beginning of my career I was a sole practitioner, was employed as a family court county prosecutor, worked in a litigation practice and a general practice firm in Syracuse, NY for a number of years and currently am a sole practitioner in Syracuse.

I have been practicing law since 1991. I have extensive trial court and criminal law experience as well as experience in family and matrimonial law. My trial court experience and background in many areas of law has been helpful in developing skills to relate effectively with opposing counsel, judges, clerks, agency employees, and other individuals associated with the court system that enhances my abilities to serve my clients.

Over my years of practice I have found that matrimonial and family law is different from other areas of practice in that it involves so many variables. Divorce not only affects the immediate parties involved, but also their children, standard of living, family relationships, friends, and their pets. Also, when you are in a committed relationship that deteriorates, the emotional strain on yourself and those close to you may hinder your ability to make reasoned decisions about your future. My goal is to help you make decisions that are right for you.

I am committed to providing legal services to my clients with an emphasis on personal interaction. As a sole practitioner, I can choose to concentrate my practice to best serve my clients. I am in a position to provide my clients with the personal attention they need to work through the complex family and financial decision-making that is associated with a divorce, separation, family court matter and any post-divorce or separation issues that may occur.

I also am committed to assisting those who are co-habiting but are not protected by the marriage contract. Unmarried couples that chose to commit to each other and co-habit are not as protected as married couples when they decide to dissolve the relationship. If you and your partner purchased a home, have children, or co-mingled assets your legal protections are not as clearly defined as those in a martial relationship. You may benefit from a co-habitation agreement.

If you have custody or support issues either pre-divorce or post divorce, I can be of assistance. Given the current employment market you may be forced to relocate. If you have children and are separated from your spouse or significant other, the employment–related move affects not only you but also your children’s right to have parenting time with the other parent.

Also, child support and spousal support issues arise when there is an inequity in income or under certain custodial arrangements. There are rules and guidelines to determine you and your partner’s obligations. You should fully understand your rights and obligations in these matters. My extensive family court experience, not only as a prosecutor but also in defense of my clients, has shown me that there is no hard fast rule to determining these issues.

My practice currently extends to Onondaga County, Cayuga County, Madison County and Jefferson County. I can be reached at (address and e-mail). I offer a free consultation and will make evening appointments after 5:00 pm upon request.
